Gambling Research Site
We are a group of researchers based in Australia, with collaborators from other organizations and universities, who aim to study cognitive, behavioural, and social aspects of gambling using the full range of techniques available in the social sciences. We employ theory and techniques from the domains of psychology, sociology, economics, and history to frame our studies and report our findings.
Our latest research project is:
- An evaluation of the removal of ATMs from gaming venues in Victoria, Australia (see project page)
Recent studies include:
- Gamblers tell their stories: An in-depth exploration of lifetime patterns of gambling (ongoing, see project page)
- Problem gambling vulnerability: The interaction between access, individual cognitions and group beliefs/preferences (see research page)
- International student gambling: The role of acculturation, gambling cognitions and social circumstances (see research page)
